    Jane Cockerell, Strategic Leadership Consultant

I’m a former aid worker and CEO, with twenty years of scaling social impact in challenging, uncertain (sometimes straight-up crazy...) environments. Having also developed expertise in strategic leadership coaching and consulting, I now support thoughtful, ambitious leaders to navigate uncertainty and to grow resilient, impactful, thriving organizations.

  • The Strategy Space 'High RoI'Mastermind Framework

Structured for optimal return on your time, energy and resources

Over twelve weeks you have an opportunity to step back, ‘think slow’ and receive peer and consultant support with your key leadership challenges and opportunities

Each fortnight on a Monday afternoon we'll have 90-minute group calls on Zoom, and I'll share tools and concepts and facilitate the group to generate solutions and insights on shared challenges

These will alternate with fortnightly peer buddy calls with time for personal reflection and in-depth dialogue about the specifics of your organisation with a fellow CEO

There will be a maximum of six CEOs in the group so everyone has plenty of time for the support and attention that they need and an opportunity to build relationships with others who 'get' the challenges you are facing

The members of group will be carefully selected to be smart, committed and generous CEOs with a growth mindset, willing to share and support others

Past experience has shown that everyone leaves the sessions uplifted, energised and inspired - I make it a rule only to work with lovely people...

The exercises, tools and resources will be carefully curated to be specific to the group's needs and context. They will be pragmatic, high quality and not overly simplistic, nor too complex

Approaches may be drawn from fields such as; governance as leadership, systems innovation, design thinking, strategic foresight, lifecycle analysis, behavioural psychology, cynefin, spirituality, growth mindset, mental models, if/ when these will add practical value and spark new ideas

We'll be using Thinkific, a fantastic online course platform to ensure that all information and resources are easy to access - and kept out of your inbox

Incredibly low price for this quality and intensity of support, acknowledging many charities' COVID-19 financial realities.

  • Testimonials

  • "I signed up for the Mastermind with Jane following a recommendation from a peer charity CEO. Working with Jane (and the amazing group of leaders) helped me in three fundamental ways that have enabled me to feel and be more prepared, and more "future proof":

    1) Practical support: Jane (provided) "best of the best" resources, frameworks and information: from fundraising, to scenario planning, and how to plan for "worst case". This has saved me a lot of time.

    2) Space: as well as guidance and signposting, Jane created plenty of time for me and the wider team to tackle our biggest challenges. She was extremely generous with her time and expertise and as a result I have new ideas on how to best leverage the board, how to support my team to feel valued, and how to recognise "red flags" in my organisation.

    3) A long term peer group: …working in similar organisations who 'get it' too. Jane composed the group brilliantly, so well in fact that we will be continuing as an action learning peer group now and beyond.

Huge thank you! Could not recommend this course enough."

Abi, Chief Executive Officer, International NGO

"The Mastermind has been such a gift during what has been such a challenging period due to the pandemic. Its provided a safe and engaging learning environment to connect with, learn from and simply “be” together – with fellow CEO’s. During this time of “isolation” and social distancing - it’s been an island of connection and learning. Jane is such an insightful coach and person with a wealth of experience and tools that she generously shares and uses to guide the group through powerful and reflective learning. Having such a diverse group of fellow CEO’s means we’ve each taken so much from one another, whilst gaining new colleagues and learning buddies on the way"

    Phil, CEO, Youth Sector Charity

"The Mastermind Course was such a welcome respite within the ever-changing COVID pandemic as this created a nurturing space for reflection, learning and group mentoring. The twelve weeks went so quickly as the variety kept us all so engaged. The mix of buddy calls and group sessions were ideal to share learning on key issues and challenges that many directors face in their work. Most importantly the money was really well spent and helped me gain much-needed buddies that I can go to for confidential peer-mentoring"

Naana, Executive Director, Equality and Diversity Charity

"The Mastermind course with Jane was a lifeline in an extremely challenging time, helped me step back and review the bigger picture and set the best possible direction for us.

Jane allowed the group flexibility to take its own course, whilst providing much-needed structure and helpful resources throughout. Being able to collaborate and learn from a small group of peers, with the expert facilitation from Jane, allowed for much more learning (in) team leadership, accountability frameworks, strategic planning, and self-belief too!"

Sarah, Founder & CEO, Youth Development non-profit

"The MasterMind sessions have been invaluable to me. I came away from each session with new ideas and approaches to problems I thought I had looked at from every angle, and with sets of high quality, carefully curated and easy to digest resources, enabling me to try out new approaches quickly and efficiently.

The themes flowed logically from week to week and it always felt like we were discussing the ‘right’ thing at the ‘right’ time.

Jane is an intuitive and extremely skilled facilitator who held the space for us all masterfully during every session. It never felt like anyone overly-dominated or was excluded, yet when any one of us clearly needed a little more space/time to talk, they had it."

    Madeleine, Director, International NGO

"Thank you so much, I have really enjoyed the experience, it kept me motivated, encouraged me to be a stronger leader who was able to support her team and work effectively with the board. I started to feel more confident … you provided helpful resources and offered alternative solutions. There was a great camaraderie and everyone was incredibly supportive."

    Rose, Interim CEO, Education Charity

  • FAQs

    and a few more details

My biggest leadership challenge is x, will we cover this?

Yes. One of the strengths of the programme is the fact that you will be able to bring your specific challenge(s) to the group and together we'll support you address them.

Also, during our initial call, I'll ask you what you'd like to gain from the programme and I will use that input to refine the content of the programme.

Is this a programme to develop the organisation’s strategic plan?

It depends on your needs and where you are in your strategy cycle. If you are able to engage your other stakeholders on this timeline then your strategic plan can be an output of our time together.

I’m not sure if I can make all the dates, should I apply?

As it's a small group Mastermind we cover a LOT in each call and non-attendance does impact on the rest of the group. Obviously, illness and emergencies occur and you may be planning (a no doubt very well-earned) holiday! But consistent attendance will be immeasurably valuable for you and your charity, so do book a call to talk this through with me if you know you have existing commitments and we'll decide how to navigate that.

    Do you offer discounted rates?

I'm sorry, the price is already outstanding value for money given the quality and intensity of support. Do ask me about how to discuss with your Chair / Board if you'd like support on this.

I’m concerned about my levels of stress and mental well-being, will this help?

I’m so very sorry to hear that. Firstly, I’m not a counsellor, so please do seek help from a medical professional (probably before you think you ‘need’ to)

I can say though, that practical and psychological support from peers is a core purpose of the Mastermind and that past participants have attributed increased self-belief and a reduced sense of overwhelm to their time on the programme.
